A Treasure

I have the most amazing grandparents. They have always been such a wonderful example to me. I treasure my relationship with them. I have learned much about them through sharing my love and talent of scrapbooks and journaling. And in return my Grandpa Blackburn has shared his talent of woodworking with me.

He made me a fancy cedar chest before I was married. I also have a custom white crib he made over six years ago for our first daughter, and Peyton is currently sleeping in it. He just surprised me with this custom handmade bassinet for our 3rd daughter. The only thing he spent money on was the metal hardware to make it rock. His brother and My Great Uncle Larry that I just love, helped him make all the dowels and shaped posts. Another thing that amazes me is my grandpa had carpal tunnel surgery just six weeks ago on one hand and is ready next week to have the second one done. So he did all this wood work in lots of pain and while healing from surgery.

I have three pieces of nice wood furniture all treasures handmade by someone who I love so dearly. I am truly blessed.
